Hello there peeps,
Well I must say that building a greenhouse is a pain in the arse, if you can, pay for someone to build it for you. Having said that it is now done and Mrs Y is chuffed with it so the effort was worthwhile.
Kenny the Kawasaki has been commuting me to work every day since he arrived and I'm pretty comfortable riding him now. Two up with Mrs Y is a different matter though, still getting the hang of it, although we're both pretty much there now. We did a mini tour of the Flyde coast yesterday and then bombed up to Windermere for the WoW festival. Watched some people playing the drums suspended from a crane and then saw fantastic firework display which made the trip worthwhile. The bike ride was great and Mrs Y enjoyed it too. Cars are now officially boring!
In fish news we lost Blinky this week from the aquarium, he was a one eyed Mono, I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. The monsters of the deep (i.e the Koi) are all very happy now as the pond filter seems to be back up to full strength and they can't stop eating which is nice.
Anyway must go and shoot some people in GTA, see ya!

impressed
I placed an order with Ikea on Sunday, they emailed back with an estimated delivery date. 2 days later got an email confirming original delivery date. Then at 8.30 this morning said parcel arrived amazingly exactly when they said it would!!! So now the shelves can be built in my greenhouse and the plants that are lining the floor can all be sorted out.

ooops!
Sorry been a bit lax in updating recently - ok very lax!
Well what have I been up to - I'll work backwards it's easier.
Tuesday night went to the Station Inn at Oxenholme for a meal, pretty good a bit pricey though.
Sunday night had a BBQ at friends, hadn't intended to do anything as bit cream crackered after Saturday night...
...Saturday night I did the Moonlight Walk in aid of St John's Hospice. We set off at just gone midnight and walked 9 miles in a circular route that took in Bolton-le-Sands, Hest Bank and Morecambe and back into Lancaster, it was a clear night and pretty warm. Got home about 4am to a dawn chorus!!
Friday night visited some friends in Kendal that we haven't seen for ages, met their new 9 week old puppy, Berry, she's a black lab crossed with a springer spaniel and absolutely gorgeous.
The rest of that week was pretty normal, work, study, sleep!
Saturday 31st May - had a really nice meal at the Borough in Dalton Square, Lancaster, it's a pub with restaurant quality/priced food. Special occasions only.
Friday night was Girls Aloud in Liverpool, I held my head up high and had a really good time, it did help that we were in a corporate box, oh how the other half live, saying that if you and 11 friends all wanted to go and see the same concert I think it would make a great night and not too much more than the price of a normal ticket.
Wednesday drove home from my sisters through a torrential downpour, thick fog and bad winds but not from me!!! I had spent a few days with my sister without Mr Y he stayed at home and did the decorating and playing GTA and eating pizzas, so don't feel too sorry for him.
Saturday before I drove to my sisters we went to the Mill Inn at Conder Green. Food excellent, really pleasant inside, beside the canal, a really nice surprise. Definitely recommend going there.
Garden wise, the greenhouse is built and only 1 pane of glass broke in the construction!! I have got my tomatoes, salad and courgettes in already, the peppers and aubergines will be planted up tonight. Just waiting for the shelving uprights to be delivered from Ikea and my herbs can go in too. The potatoes are starting to flower so it won't be long before they can be harvested. The mean and nasty slugs have destroyed my sunflowers and pumpkins so as soon as the shelves are built I'll get some more planted along with some more peas as they have been a disaster this year, I think it's because the weather went from cold to hot quite suddenly and they flowered too soon before growing big and strong oh well can't get everything right all the time.
I think that's me pretty much up to date, I'm sure though if I've missed anything off Mr Y will put it right...
See ya soon
